Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with design of electrical systems (substations and/or microgrids).
  • Electrical circuit and power flow fundamental knowledge.
  • Capable of laying out equipment and routing of conduit, cable tray, duct banks, and grounding grids.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Bluebeam, and MS Office.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to others on the team while also continuing to learn, grow, and expand knowledge.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Military Base Security Access Clearance is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required with a record that meets the CLP Fleet Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or equivalent in drafting, engineering technology or related field.
  • Bentley Substation, AutoDesk Inventor, SDS (Substation Design Suite), Arc-GIS, PLS-CADD, and/or Pole Foreman experience.
  • Previous experience as a Team Lead or Design Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of drafters and designers, assigning projects and tasks, and providing quality control review of design work.
  • Develop, check, and coordinate designs and drawings needed for substation and microgrid projects.
  • Develop accurate designs complying with recognized drafting standards, company practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop plans, elevations, sections, and bills of materials for substation and facility systems, including below-ground and above-ground designs.
  • Prepare and oversee electrical power system drawings, including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Monitor work performed by drafters and designers, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery.
  • Ensure all project comments and markups are incorporated into the project's design documents.
  • Perform complete design checks to assure applicable codes, standards, design/drafting standards, and technical accuracies are incorporated.
  • Attend coordination meetings and collaborate with engineering staff for input and reviews.
  • Perform field verification of existing facilities.
  • Interface with the customer to provide technical support and integrate designs as needed.
  • Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction and support multiple projects concurrently.
  • Oversee and update company design/drafting standards with support from the drafting and design team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
