Our CASAC interns work with clients suffering from substance misuse disorders in our outpatient Program Clinic in Westchester County. CASAC interns apply their knowledge of substance use disorders and that of co-occurring disorders. You will evaluate and monitor clients, screen for signs and symptoms of substance use disorders, provide support during recovery, and implement treatment plans, offer emotional support. The CASAC interns adhere to the NYS OASAS Scope of Practice Rules and are involved in the 12 Core Functions of an Addiction Counselor when working with agency clients and the community. This position requires that applicants be enrolled in an education and training program that will grant them credit hours for their internship. Applicants must also be CASAC(T) students. Requirements

  • Current CASAC(T) student.
  • Must be enrolled in an education and training program that will grant them credit hours for their internship.

Responsibilities

  • Performs substance use assessments, collaborates with case managers to identify mutually agreed upon long and short-term substance use related goals and develop a comprehensive service plan.
  • Provides substance use counseling and support services to clients.
  • Facilitates weekly substance use groups including harm reduction and relapse prevention.
  • Performs crisis intervention, assessment, advocacy, referral, and case planning.
  • Participates in weekly supervision with his/her supervisor, team meetings and case reviews.
  • Patriciate in weekly supervision.
  • Additional assignments may be determined at a future date.
