About The Position

The Substance Use Disorder Therapist works under the supervision of licensed staff approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling or Social Work. The therapist assists with assessments and provides group sessions, individual services, and other program services for clients experiencing addiction. The position includes clinical and administrative responsibilities within the program.

Requirements

Master’s degree in human services or a related field.
Must be approved by the state of Virginia as a Resident in Counseling (LPC Resident) or as a Supervisee in Social Work (LCSW-Supervisee).

Responsibilities

Perform intake screening and assist with assessments unless otherwise assigned to central intake staff.
Perform and assist with program administrative functions, including psychosocial assessments and admission documentation, contacts with referral sources and family, urine drug screens, and ensuring initial and concurrent treatment authorization with the payer source.
Take an active role in psychoeducational programming, using didactic, audiovisual, and other teaching formats appropriate for the level of care.
Perform and assist with the clinical group process using industry-recognized therapeutic modalities and interventions.
Perform and assist with individual and family sessions as needed.
Perform and assist with weekly family education and weekly programs.
