About The Position

The Substance Use Disorder Specialist plays a critical role in supporting individuals struggling with addiction by providing comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, and ongoing care coordination. This position aims to facilitate recovery and improve the overall well-being of clients through evidence-based interventions and compassionate support. The specialist collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans that address the physical, psychological, and social aspects of substance use disorders. They also engage in community outreach and education to promote awareness and prevention of substance misuse. Ultimately, this role contributes to reducing the impact of substance use disorders on individuals, families, and communities across the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Certification or licensure as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor or equivalent credential recognized in the United States.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working directly with individuals affected by substance use disorders.
  • Strong understanding of addiction theories, treatment modalities, and recovery processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in client care.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related discipline.

  • Experience working within diverse populations and culturally sensitive treatment practices.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate clients' substance use history, mental health status, and social factors influencing their condition.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clinical best practices and client needs.
  • Provide counseling and support through individual and group therapy sessions to promote recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Coordinate care with healthcare providers, social services, and community resources to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current with advances in addiction treatment methodologies.
