About The Position

Helio Health is seeking a Full-Time Substance Use Disorder Counselor for its Syracuse Opioid Treatment Program (OTP). The role focuses on treating and promoting recovery from substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package and a sign-on incentive up to $3,000.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CASAC-T required or CASAC-P eligible.
• Knowledge of addiction/recovery, behavioral health, self-help group process and principles of counseling.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications.

Nice To Haves

• Associates or bachelors preferred.
• One year counseling experience preferred.
• Equivalent alternative combination of education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a case load of patients seeking treatment from the effects of substance use and/or mental health disorders.
• Perform essential counseling responsibilities including screening, intake and orientation, assessment, evaluation and intervention, treatment planning, referrals, crisis intervention, counseling, patient education, case management, reporting and record keeping.
• Participate in program, administrative and clinical committees as assigned.
• Relate effectively with staff, clients, and community while upholding confidentiality requirements.
