Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with incarcerated individuals and collaborate with correctional staff and external partners.
  • Experience with documentation and treatment planning systems.
  • Solid knowledge of substance use disorders.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention.
  • High level of empathy, professionalism, and dedication to quality care.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services
  • Licensed in Virginia as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), CSAC Supervisee, or be able to obtain CSAC supervision within the first 30 days of hire.
  • One (1) year of experience in a substance use disorder and/or correctional setting.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a caseload of incarcerated individuals participating in our jail-based treatment program.
  • Complete screenings and intake evaluations.
  • Identify clinical needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Facilitate both group and individual counseling sessions.
  • Provide substance use education.
  • Coordinate case management services.
  • Support crisis intervention efforts.
  • Assist with discharge planning to ensure successful reentry into the community.
  • Act as a liaison between correctional staff, the criminal justice system, and community-based treatment providers.
  • Connect individuals to critical resources that support long-term recovery.
  • Contribute to reducing recidivism and promoting positive outcomes for those served.
