About The Position

Hygea Healthcare has launched a brand-new, 50-bed substance abuse detox facility in Middle River, MD, and we’re building a team of passionate, ethical, and energetic professionals to make a real impact! As a Substance Use Counselor, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals overcome substance use disorders through individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices. Requirements

Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field
Active SUD Counselor certification (CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LCADC, LCPC, LCSW, LGPC, LGADC, LGSW)
2+ years of experience in substance use disorder treatment (detox experience preferred)
Strong crisis management & de-escalation skills
A team player dedicated to making a difference
Minimum of 2 years of non-internship experience treating substance use disorders
Minimum of 2 years on non-internship experience working in a residential treatment center or outpatient facility
Proficient in providing support to clients during moments of crisis, equipped with effective verbal de-escalation techniques.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field with two or more years in a AOD or mental health setting preferred.
Experience in detox practices preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to assist recovering individuals in preventing relapse and promoting long-term recovery.
Use an outcomes-based approach and evidenced-based practices to achieve results.
Conduct confidential, quality assessments, that are gender-responsive and trauma-informed, utilizing ASAM criteria to determine the appropriate level of care.
Use a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and internal and external Hygea Healthcare treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.
Conduct individual, group, and family sessions, using evidence-based modalities and interventions.
