This position must be available to respond to Substance Use Disorders treatment including client intakes, individual and group counseling, treatment assessment and planning, and case management for in-custody substance abuse services. The target clients are adults correctional inmates serving their sentences in County jail facilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of or progress towards either a Master's degree in Marriage Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology or CCAPP certification.
  • Intern registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or registration as a CCAPP intern or completion of CCAPP certification or MFT/LCSW.
  • Be eligible for security clearance to enter Santa Clara County Jail facilities (Elmwood and main Jail) to screen, assess, create transition plans, and conduct psych education groups.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients.
  • Knowledge of Internet software and standard office software as well as the ability to develop competency in specialized clinical software as needed.
  • Thorough clinical knowledge and experience and/or training in providing substance use disorders or behavioral health services to adults.
  • Thorough understanding and experience in the delivery of services to an ethnically and economically diverse population.
  • Communicate with clients and co-workers to exchange accurate information.
  • Frequently required to remain in a stationary position for most of the workday.
  • Move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as copy machine, printer, fax.
  • Must be able to review client charts for accurate information.
  • Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs., and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans.
  • Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with residents and staff, etc.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language.
  • Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption.
  • Must be able to attend a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time.
  • Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time.
  • Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.
  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by Title XXII, other licensing regulations, and Caminar practices.
  • If applicable, a personal cell phone with reliable service and a data plan to use for business purposes.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct counseling services, including individual and group counseling, treatment assessment and planning, and case management (in-custody and transition to outpatient services)
  • Develop client exit plans for continued treatment and refers client to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling.
  • Plans and administers behavioral treatment such as relapse prevention, discovery counseling and exit plans. Ensure clients has all medications and other essentials for continued treatment.
  • Changes method and degree of counseling when indicated by client reaction and communicates progress toward treatment goals with client.
  • Maintains excellent client records and complete all agency required reports and paperwork.
  • Complies thoroughly with County DADS contract documentation and auditing standards and requirements in a timely manner including but not limited to required client contact time.
  • Monitor client fees and number of session limitations if necessary.
  • Participate in group and individual supervision.
