About The Position

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital, operated jointly with Lifepoint Behavioral Health and Baystate Health, is seeking a Substance Abuse Therapist for its Forensic Unit. The hospital offers compassionate, high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment for teens, adults, and seniors. They provide a full range of evidence-based medical and clinical services in a state-of-the-art, 150-bed hospital. Programs include inpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). The role emphasizes prioritizing employee well-being to enable exceptional patient care and making a remarkable difference in the lives of those served.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree from a college with a major in chemical dependency, social work, counseling or nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services), or other related field.
• 1 year of clinical experience (a minimum of 1,820 hours) in a health or human service agency.
• LADC-I or LADC-II certification/licensure/registration.

• Clinical experience in a drug and alcohol setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct assessment and counseling services to adolescent, adult, and geriatric clients.
• Provides individual, marital, family and group psychotherapy as assigned.
• Maintains accurate and complete records, including adequate paperwork to facilitate proper billing.
• Knowledgeable of CPT Codes and their appropriate and effective application.
• Maintains confidentiality of all patient, hospital, and employee related information.
• Delivers personalized, efficient care with respect for the individual’s spiritual and cultural differences.
• Participates in community consultation and education as requested.
• Participates in facility treatment team meetings communicating clinical impressions.
• Compiles comprehensive patient/family history and records the data.
• Works to ensure effective performance and productivity maintaining a flexible schedule to accommodate patients.
