Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree + Qualified Professional (QP) status (NC requirements)
  • Certification as LCAS
  • Experience (or strong interest) in co-occurring disorders (mental health + substance use)
  • Ability to stay calm, focused, and effective in high-pressure situations
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance use counseling, education, and skill-building in community and clinical settings
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments and track stages of change
  • Use Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and relapse prevention strategies to support recovery
  • Help develop and implement Person-Centered Plans, crisis plans, and safety plans
  • Act as a key voice on the ACTT team, educating others on substance use and dual diagnosis (IDDT)
  • Respond to crisis situations
  • Connect members to community resources, including 12-step and recovery supports
  • Maintain timely, audit-ready documentation aligned with Medicaid, DHHS, and CARF standards
