Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
Ability to obtain certification in Thinking for Change (T4C) within the three (3) months of employment.
Working knowledge of the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
Ability to interact in a professional manner in both individual and group counseling settings.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in a related area preferred.
Relevant teaching or counseling experience in a correctional setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides relevant substance abuse and cognitive behavior information in a classroom-like environment.
Facilitates and co-facilitates educational presentations and group counseling on substance abuse and cognitive behavior matters.
Reviews and recommends instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse cognitive behavior programs.
Maintains knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse and cognitive behavior.
Maintains professional relationships with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations.
Participates in related training for substance abuse and cognitive behavior.
Performs other duties as assigned.
