About The Position

The CASAC Counselor will conduct services within the PREP Center. CASAC counselor is responsible for the delivery of substance abuse and relapse prevention counseling services within the residential unit, overnight shift. The CASAC Counselor will document all services within AWARDS electronic records and billing system within 24 hours of service date. Documentation includes progress notes on all services, screening tools, service plans, intake assessment forms, group sign-in forms and group notes.

Requirements

  • CASAC or CASAC-T (pending CASAC certification) with HSD/GED or comparable credentials such as MSW, MHC, LMSW, LMHC required.
  • A thorough understanding of the disease of addiction and the impact it can have on the lives of our clients.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing and the stages of change as well as person-centered practices.
  • Theoretical knowledge of a client’s psychological and physical needs and an understanding of group work practices and principles needed.
  • Experience with OASAS portal, HCS, and LOCADTR process
  • Ability to work with Culturally Diverse, LGBTQ, HIV and homeless population

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of OASAS 822 outpatient program a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-intake client screenings
  • Conduct alcohol and other drug withdrawal and drug use assessments and screenings
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment on each client
  • Maintains and coordinates a client caseload
  • Provide individual and group counseling
  • Document all client care services and maintain chart documentation, paperwork for referring agencies and outside support services
  • Conducts client orientation and discharge planning for clients
  • Coordinate care with external and internal providers/resources (i.e. court appointments, medical procedures, parole/probation)
  • In coordination with clinical team develop and implement a substance abuse and/or relapse prevention treatment plan for the client.
  • Develop and implement a substance abuse /relapse prevention and recovery related group curricula
  • Attend all appropriate meetings, participate in appropriate case conferences, treatment plan meetings
  • Supervise clients adherence to program rules and regulations
  • Perform various other tasks and responsibilities as appropriate and required
  • Perform necessary follow-up on clients' request for outside appointments, phone calls, home visits. Also responsible for discussing client outside activities as they relate to the clients' sobriety and or relapse.
