This role is located at the Gateway Foundation Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in Jacksonville, IL. The position focuses on delivering high-quality clinical services as a recognized leader in evidence-based treatment. The counselor will provide essential services to underserved populations within a vibrant culture that emphasizes teamwork and professional growth, offering both personal and professional fulfillment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Minimum 6 months of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling required
- Related work experience with a program specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential treatment setting required
Responsibilities
- Conducts assessment and evaluation to determine scope and type of care needed
- Develops comprehensive treatment plans
- Participates in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings
- Leads group counseling and education sessions
- Engages client in one-on-one individual counseling sessions
- Maintains confidential, systematic, accurate and timely documentation of client progress in Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Uses excellent communication skills to guide clients toward positive choices, especially when in crisis.
- Monitors client behavior in therapeutic milieu
- Administers tests of accountability through collection of urine drug screens and breathalyzers.
- Makes community referrals for follow up care
