About The Position

Gateway Foundation, Inc. is a national non-profit dedicated to helping individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. Established in 1968, Gateway provides essential tools and knowledge for recovery, positively impacting hundreds of thousands of lives. Operating through its Community Services, Corrections Divisions, and Corporate Headquarters, the organization is recognized for innovative, effective treatment approaches and maintaining high standards. This role is part of a team at Gateway's largest facility, Atascocita, a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. The facility houses nearly 500 clients and operates without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center. Requirements

  • LCDC or LPC is required
  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work or a related field required.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance from Harris County.

Nice To Haves

  • At least six months previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling preferred.
  • Experience in a corrections environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes comprehensive assessments of clients’ substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and develops individualized treatment plan.
  • Provides individual and group counseling and may facilitate didactic groups.
  • Documents treatment and discharge plans, and clients’ progress and responses to treatment; and maintains related records and charts.
  • Performs case management and contributes to client care monitoring.
