Substance Abuse Specialist – ACTT (LCAS / LCAS-A) Pyramid Healthcare – Asheville ACTT 📍 Asheville, NC (Local community travel required) 💰 $50,000–$57,000 annually (based on licensure and experience) 🕒 Full-Time | Flexible Schedule Help Individuals Build Recovery While Receiving Care in Their Community Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Specialist (LCAS or LCAS-A) to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Asheville, NC. As a member of our multidisciplinary ACTT team, you'll provide community-based substance use services to adults living with serious mental illness who are working toward long-term recovery. This role combines clinical expertise with outreach, allowing you to meet clients where they are while helping them reduce barriers, strengthen recovery skills, and improve overall quality of life. Requirements

  • Active North Carolina LCAS or LCAS-A license required.
  • LCAS-A candidates must be working toward full licensure.
  • Qualified Professional (QP) status under North Carolina regulations preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Asheville service area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adults experiencing serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or community-based behavioral health services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance use assessments, counseling, education, and recovery support in community settings.
  • Deliver individual and group interventions that promote recovery and reduce relapse risk.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices including motivational interviewing and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Help clients develop coping skills, recovery goals, and healthy support systems.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, peer support specialists, and case managers to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Coordinate care with community providers, referral sources, families, and natural supports.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources that support long-term recovery and independence.
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with ACTT, Medicaid, and agency standards.
  • Maintain treatment plans, progress notes, authorizations, discharge planning, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in daily team meetings and contribute to ongoing care coordination.
  • Assist clients experiencing behavioral health or substance use crises.
  • Participate in the ACTT crisis phone rotation, including one assigned weekday and rotating weekend coverage.
  • Support crisis intervention, hospital diversion efforts, safety planning, and community stabilization.
