About The Position

Noblis MSD’s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and Fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Noblis MSD is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide engineering and technical support to NSWCPD Code 445 submarine programs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VIRGINIA Class submarine electrical power systems, with specific emphasis on emergency diesel generator (EDG) and turbine generator (SSTG) systems and legacy platforms including LOS ANGELES Class (SSN 688), OHIO Class (SSBN/GN 726) and SEAWOLF Class (SSN 21) submarines. This position requires expertise in submarine electrical power generation, distribution, controls, and hull, mechanical, and electrical (HM&E) maintenance, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will serve as an In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) representative, conducting technical reviews, system health assessments, and providing expert guidance on electrical power and (HM&E) systems across multiple submarine platforms. Their responsibilities and duties may include but are not limited to: Provide engineering and technical expertise for submarine electrical power systems, including EDGs, SSTGs, switchboards, circuit breakers, motors, and distribution systems Conduct System Health Assessments (SHAs) for electrical and propulsion plant systems, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions Process and adjudicate VIRGINIA Class commitments and technical feedback reports Draft and modify engineering drawings, Technical Manuals (TMs), and troubleshooting guides Support EDG and SSTG programs, including working group participation, vibration analysis, and governor upgrades Serve as ISEA representative, traveling to submarine bases to provide on-site technical support as needed Conduct thermal/IR inspections in accordance with NAVSEA specifications as needed Provide technical expertise during bi-weekly/monthly working group meetings Analyze operational and test data to provide technical recommendations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years related experience, OR High School Diploma and 11+ years related experience, OR equivalent nuclear submarine service
  • 10+ years hands-on experience with submarine electrical power systems
  • Extensive experience with VIRGINIA Class electrical and HM&E systems
  • Thermography certification
  • Active or ability to obtain Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Former U.S. Navy submarine electrician background
  • Direct experience supporting NSWCPD Code 445
