About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and analytical candidate with operational submarine experience to help us assess the performance and influence the capability development of the Navy’s Submarine Advanced Processor Build (APB) state-of-the-art tactical capabilities. Our team works heavily with system data and observations, combining sound technical acumen, creative problem solving, and domain knowledge to develop relevant and novel test strategies and measurement approaches. Our findings serve as key drivers of innovation that push the boundaries of submarine system capability and improve systems for Fleet end users. You will join a hardworking and expert team of analysts, engineers, and former warfighters in an environment that values collaboration and novel ideas. The Signal and Systems Analysis Group (KTA) provides data-driven design and analytical assessments of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) system performance with operator in-the-loop to advance the warfighting capabilities of current and future systems. KTA is passionate about transforming DATA into operationally relevant KNOWLEDGE and is committed to a culture that prioritizes staff development and continuous innovation. As a member of our submarine advanced development test team you will... Evaluate developmental submarine technologies at the algorithmic, functional, user interface, and end-to-end system level, enabling decision makers to make informed choices on the future direction of the Navy’s submarine tactical systems. Your duties will include: Determining appropriate analysis methodology and measures of performance, including exploring new approaches Using thorough data analytics and systems engineering techniques and applying relevant operational and instructional expertise such as submarine mission operations and employment, sound propagation, and target motion analysis principles to perform analysis and draw conclusions Communicating test methodologies and results to sponsors and external organizations Planning, executing, and directing in-lab test events at integrator facilities Collaborating with a community of submarine system experts that include researchers, developers, engineers, and current and former Fleet personnel Coordinate, plan and execute occasional sea test events with developers, integrators, testers, and Navy laboratories. Your duties will include: Developing end-to-end test objectives Designing event test runs and defining a test schedule that efficiently stresses new tactical capabilities Ensuring participation from other Navy platforms in support of test objectives Defining logistics requirements including personnel assignments and shipment and setup of test hardware Developing detailed measures of performance and data collection strategies to support post-test analysis objectives Leading planning meetings to achieve the above objectives Creating a report that captures key findings during the test and briefing this report to stakeholders Participating as an embarked member of the test team during at-sea events to support test execution, system observation, and data collection
