About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the subcontracting process for the fabrication of structural steel or fabricated metal products. This includes soliciting and receiving bids, monitoring work progress at subcontractor sites, updating manufacturing progress in the ERP system, documenting site visits, coordinating deliveries with various departments, and providing technical support. You will also track and manage required documents, prepare and send requests for proposals, research and qualify new subcontractors, analyze proposals, prepare estimates, issue purchase orders, and oversee the manufacturing of subcontracted projects.

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC) in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, metallurgy, or any other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in operations management or subcontract management, or relevant experience in steel estimation or fabrication;
  • Bilingualism (French and English, spoken and written);
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Excellent organizational, independent, and teamwork skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work with various stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the steel industry/steel fabrication (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the network of subcontractors to either request or receive bids for the fabrication of structural steel or fabricated metal products, as needed by the plant.
  • Monitor the progress of work at subcontractors’ sites;
  • Keep the manufacturing progress up to date in the ERP system;
  • Documenting visits to subcontractors in visit reports and following up on non-conformities until they are resolved;
  • Coordinating deliveries of manufactured products with various departments (ADF transport, construction site, painting, galvanizing, etc.);
  • Provide technical support to subcontractors as needed;
  • Track and manage required documents during and at the end of manufacturing (NDE reports, inspection reports, etc.);
  • Forward the documents required for final release to ADF’s quality assurance department;
  • Prepare and send requests for proposals for manufacturing (structures, fabricated metal, etc.);
  • Research and qualify subcontractors (bending, machining, etc.) according to production needs;
  • Analyze received proposals and make recommendations;
  • Prepare estimates and issue purchase orders;
  • Manage the manufacturing of subcontracted projects
