This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. The Principal Subcontract Administrator will lead and manage complex construction subcontracts for Blue Origin's infrastructure development and facility expansion initiatives. This senior-level position is responsible for developing and implementing subcontract strategies, managing high-value construction agreements, providing expert guidance on contract terms and conditions, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, contractors, and legal teams to support Blue Origin's growing operational footprint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Construction Management, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in contract management, with at least 5 years focused on construction contracts
  • Demonstrated expertise in construction subcontract development, negotiation, and administration
  • Experience managing high-value, complex construction agreements (>$10M)
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry standards, practices, and contract law
  • Proficient in contract risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience with construction change order management and claims resolution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Understanding of FAR/DFAR requirements as they relate to construction contracts
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a contract management role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, negotiation, and administration of complex construction subcontracts and related agreements
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for major construction subcontractors, managing relationships and resolving contractual issues
  • Develop and implement subcontract management strategies aligned with project objectives and organizational goals
  • Analyze contract risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect Blue Origin's interests
  • Review and approve contract modifications, change orders, and amendments
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with contractual terms, specifications, and project requirements
  • Provide expert guidance to internal teams on subcontract terms, conditions, and interpretation
  • Oversee subcontractor performance evaluations and corrective action processes
  • Lead dispute resolution processes and support potential claim negotiations
  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, and Project Management teams on contract-related matters
  • Develop and implement standard processes and best practices for construction subcontract management
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior contract administrators
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations applicable to construction contracts
