SUB Welder
About The Position
MasTec Utility Services is hiring a Substation Welder to support construction of new substations and modifications and upgrades to existing substations for electrical utility companies throughout Florida. This traveling role involves working at different job sites across the state, with per diem provided when applicable. The Substation Welder maintains and performs repairs, modifications, replacements, and installations of a wide variety of low- and high-voltage electrical and electronic equipment and systems at existing facilities, new acquisitions, and facilities under renovation. Equipment may be fixed or portable.
Requirements
- TIG welding experience.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including bending and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to judge distance and space relationships, coordinate hand and eye movements precisely, and identify and distinguish colors.
Nice To Haves
- OSHA 10 certification.
- 6G certification.
Responsibilities
- Develop welding plans by analyzing print specifications and determining appropriate welding techniques.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures and complying with safety standards.
- Construct components by setting up and measuring assemblies, selecting the appropriate method, and using equipment to cut, clean, and weld.
- Verify welding results by inspecting and testing welds.
- Keep equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, and performing preventive maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
