About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Study Technician to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN! This role involves learning and applying good research practice (GXP) principles, operating data collection systems, and understanding basic technician requirements for animal room upkeep, time/study management, data organization, and quality control. The technician will work with multiple species, maintain client confidentiality, and learn to perform basic clinical observations, measurements (body weights, food consumption, tumor measurements, body temperatures), dosing techniques (oral gavage, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous), and sample collections (blood, urine, feces, basic non-histological tissue collections). The role also includes independently running basic study designs with multiple species.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in animal science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field
  • Prior animal research experience
  • Prior specimen processing experience
  • Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
  • Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
  • Good time management skills
  • Basic Computer Knowledge
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Ability to accurately read, record and communicate information

  • AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!

Responsibilities

  • Independently running studies (basic study designs, multiple species etc.).
  • Learn how to perform basic clinical observations.
  • Learn how to perform basic data measurements, including body weights, food consumption, tumor measurements, body temperatures, etc.
  • Learn how to perform basic dosing techniques for various species, including oral gavage, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous etc.
  • Learn how to perform basic sample collections, which may include blood, urine, feces etc.
  • May learn basic non histological tissue collections.
