About The Position

Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Study Manager to join our Metals Project Development team, providing management, technical leadership and world-class design expertise to Hatch's metals business units. As a Study Manager, you will develop pursuits and manage engagements for earlier project development phases, also known as FEL1, FEL2, FEL3, FEED, pre-feasibility or feasibility study phases.

Requirements

  • Typically 20+ years of experience managing studies or projects in the mining and metals industry.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and organize at an advanced level.
  • Knowledge of project management fundamentals, including earned value management.
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and accommodate high pressure situations to support the team in meeting project objectives.
  • An extensive knowledge of administrative practices and strong communication skills across all levels including client representatives.
  • Ability to handle complex problem-solving tasks, applying appropriate analysis and consideration of high-level technical detail.
  • Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders involved in the project (including internal and external clients).
  • A high emotional quotient (EQ) that can be applied to motivate teams, increase team efficiency, and aid in conflict resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in multiple sectors or commodities advantageous but not specifically required.
  • Experience with NI 43-101 and/or S-K 1300 disclosures is considered an asset.
  • BSc/BEng degree in an engineering discipline and registration as a Professional Engineer is not specifically required but is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring Hatch values, including our commitment to safety, are embedded throughout the opportunity identification, pursuit, project development and set up for delivery.
  • Developing project scopes, resource estimates, schedules, and budgets.
  • Set-up of progress measurement and delivery systems
  • Active management of progress through earned value, cost-performance, and schedule performance metrics to ensure studies remain on track and within cost and schedule targets.
  • Management of multidisciplinary teams across engineering, project controls, procurement, construction/commissioning planning, environmental disciplines and others as required for a particular study.
  • Embedding value optimization practices, including design reviews and risk analyses, to maximize project value.
  • Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, environmental objectives, quality requirements and safety protocols.
  • Fostering communication with clients, study teams and stakeholders.
  • Working with commodity directors and regional/global leadership to identify and pursue opportunities – developing proposals, estimates and presentations as needed.
