About The Position

The Studio Store Sales Lead will be the specialist in all Studio Store products, launches, collaborations, and featured Black owned brands. The Sales Lead has incredible knowledge of store products and brands, acting primarily as the main touchpoint for visitors and customers. This Lead is extremely passionate about Black art, culture, and history, and is excited to inform the Studio Museum community about products and brands that echo the Museum’s mission. This role works closely with Studio Store Marketing and Store Manager, as well as the Visitor Experience Associates to ensure excellent standards for community engagement and sales floor maintenance. The Studio Store Sales Lead will also be responsible for the upkeep and stock of displays, shelving, and store inventory. This role reports to the Studio Store Marketing and Store Manager.

Requirements

  • Required to work weekends and some evenings for special events and extended Museum hours
  • Proactive approach, patience, and readiness regarding processes, merchandising, and overall store maintenance
  • Able to maintain their composure and think and communicate clearly in emotionally charged and emergency situations
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Desire to learn and develop excellent knowledge of products
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outgoing, people-centered, and highly motivated
  • At least 3 years’ experience in customer-facing role in hospitality or retail, preferably in a museum or nonprofit environment.
  • Passion for Black art, history and culture
  • Experience with cash handling protocols

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Shopify and POS is a plus
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain excellent compliance with protocols for handling cash, credit card, electronic transactions, and personal information
  • Ensure store inventory on the floor and in storage room is well-maintained and organized
  • Maintain and support strong merchandising standards
  • Manage and maintain merchandising standards for the Visitor Associates team
  • Ensure information about new products, upcoming events, and inventory changes are shared with Visitor Experience Associates prior to shifts
  • Communicate stock needs with Inventory Stock Associate for transportation to the Museum
  • Practice excellent customer service to ensure a great experience for all visitors to the store
  • Interact with members of the VE team to instill enthusiasm with store products and be the point person for questions regarding store products.
