About The Position

This research assistant position supports a funded interdisciplinary pilot study examining how U.S. military veterans use large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and Claude for health information seeking and therapeutic communication. The project is a collaboration among faculty in the Departments of Communication, Public Health, and English at Baylor University.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate student at Baylor University
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in research settings
  • Prior experience in community outreach
  • Prior experience working with veteran or military-connected populations
  • Prior experience in qualitative methods

Responsibilities

  • Participant recruitment
  • Data collection
  • Data analysis
  • Outreach and correspondence with veteran-serving organizations in the Waco and Central Texas region
  • Scheduling and coordinating participant interviews
  • Conducting literature and database research in support of the project team
  • General research administration
  • Coding and analysis of interview data under faculty supervision (for students with prior experience in qualitative methods)
