About The Position

This is a 12-month, non-exempt, temporary position with the James E Richmond Science Center, paying $15.00 per hour. The role involves assisting with various tasks at the Science Center, including ticket and gift shop sales, monitoring the lobby, giving presentations, assisting attendees with science lab activities, and managing check-in and assignments. The position requires flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, and involves daily setup and cleanup. The employee will interact with attendees and perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old
• Must be in high school for 2 years
• Demonstrated knowledge of sound Science lab practices and procedures
• Evidence of exemplary interpersonal skills
• Excellent customer service, communication (both written and verbal) and cross group collaboration skills required
• Strong math and science skills
• Must be comfortable working with all age groups of children
• Must have flexibility, integrity and the willingness to learn

Nice To Haves

• Volunteer work at Science Center or similar venue
• Prior experience working with children, preferred
• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ticket sales, gift shop sales and monitoring the lobby
• Give short presentations, as needed
• Assist attendees with science lab activities
• Assist with check-in and assignments
• Ability to work flexible hours and weekends
• Help set up and clean up daily
• Interacts with attendees
• Performs other work-related duties as assigned
