Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

  • Interest in event planning, community building, or alumni engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling information
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and virtual platforms such as Zoom
  • Ability to work some evening hours
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions for events. Possible extreme heat and high noise levels.
  • Ability to work between 8-10 hours per week in a hybrid environment.
  • Current Purdue University student

Nice To Haves

  • Students with involvement in student organizations, campus leadership, events, or volunteer activities are preferred.
  • Preference for block schedule allowing 3-4 hours at least two days a week to work

Responsibilities

  • Help support an alumni-to-student mentoring program by onboarding mentors and mentees to the mentorship platform, assisting with matching mentors and mentees, and helping facilitate ongoing program touchpoints.
  • Monitor and manage the volunteerism email inbox by directing incoming messages and routing inquiries to the appropriate team members for response.
  • Coordinate drafting and sending check-in emails, reminders, and other web or email communications, as well as develop resources to enhance engagement in the mentorship program.
  • Assist with Purdue Serves volunteer portal, including onboarding new users, posting and editing volunteer events, and troubleshooting user challenges.
  • Support check-in and set-up for Purdue for Life Engagement events.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to encourage student participation in mentoring or volunteer opportunities.
  • Provide general support to the Volunteerism and Student Engagement team, as needed.
