About The Position

The University of Nevada Reno is recruiting for the role of President of the Residential Housing Association (RHA). Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Student Engagement, the RHA President acts as the Chief Executive Officer of the Residential Housing Association to ensure that all operations of RHA are in accordance with the RHA operating procedures, as well as works with each officer & advisor as a visionary for the term in which they apply. This job requires a person that can work with different members of the diverse range of students involved in RHA to aid in the resolution of issues and other matters dealing with residents.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Candidate must successfully complete a minimum of 15 credits per semester of employment. Credit-load is limited to 17 credits per semester. Those who wish to request enrollment in less than 15 credits or 18+ credits may do so by gaining approval.
  • Candidate must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average (both semester and cumulative) while holding the Board of Director position. Failure to meet this expectation at any point while in this position may result in probation or termination at the sole discretion of UNR.
  • During the length of employment, students must not hold a position elsewhere on campus that would regularly conflict with duties as assigned in this role. This includes roles that would conflict with mandatory training dates & times.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an official representative of RHA at all sponsored events while advocating for student concerns on behalf of RHA, to Residential Life, Housing, and Food Service (RLHFS)
  • Preside over General Council meetings
  • Work with other members of the executive board to appoint open seats on the Board of Directors
  • Attend PACURH and NACURH conferences as scheduled
  • Complete weekly RHA reports
  • Aid in the planning of major RHA events including but not limited to RHA Board Trainings, Fall & Spring Opening Events, and more as needed.
  • Constant follow up and partnership with University Leadership & host town halls to ensure the betterment of the university community.
  • Keep assigned office hours in the RHA Resource Center as well as attend regular one-on-one meetings with RHA advisor(s), performing administrative duties as assigned by as they relate to areas of administration, programming, advocacy, and marketing.
  • Co-supervise other executive board members as well as the Board of Directors with the Coordinator of Student Engagement.
  • Completing weekly RHA reports
  • Assisting with the development of agendas for board meetings
  • Completing assigned office hours in the RHA Resource Center

Benefits

  • This position is a required live on position, and the incumbent will receive a living space within one of our residential communities as well as a designated meal plan.
  • The RHA President will be allowed and is required to move into their assigned living space on campus the Sunday prior to Residence Life Student Staff Training, typically beginning the first week of August.
  • The RHA President will serve 15 hours per week and be compensated with an appropriate room and meal plan provided by the department.
  • A room in the residence hall (Depending on building/room assignment, students employed may be assigned a roommate), and utilities.
  • Academic Year meal plan, which includes options for weekly meals in dining venues across campus and an allotment of Food Bucks, During Fall Training (August) and Winter Training (January), meals will be provided by the department as part of training.
