About The Position

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) at Baylor University is seeking a Student Office Associate to work in the main department office or another office area within the department. This role involves assisting faculty and staff, managing office supplies, handling mail and phone calls, and performing light housekeeping. The position requires maintaining confidentiality, honesty, organization, and reliability, with an understanding of FERPA regulations. The student will work 10-20 hours per week with flexible hours during regular business hours.

  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Honesty, being well-organized and reliable are required.
  • Will agree to abide by FERPA when completing paperwork with Student Employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) Office faculty and staff as required.
  • Perform regular checks of supplies in department workrooms.
  • Maintains a record of supply inventory and provides the Office Manager with supply orders as needed.
  • Maintaining copier and printer supplies through the Copy Center and/or ordering from Staples.
  • Run errands (e.g., copy center, other departments).
  • Sorts mail after delivery from the post office and takes it to other mailboxes within the department.
  • Answers phone calls and assists department visitors.
  • Performs light housekeeping around the main department office.
  • Assists with various projects as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Be responsible for completing and submitting your timesheet on time.
