About The Position

Provides custodial services at assigned site, ensuring an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing a variety of special cleaning operations, preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events, and completing assignments in a safe, proper, and timely manner.

Requirements

• Enrolled as a current Springfield Public Schools student
• At least sixteen years of age or older
• Must pass a Pre-Employment Proficiency Test.
• Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios.
• Ability to understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly.
• Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of products and materials used in a school setting.
• Ability to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
• Ability to operate equipment and materials used in industrial maintenance.
• Ability to adhere to safety practices.
• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to read technical information and compose a variety of documents.
• Ability to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds thereby maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive learning environment.
• Consults with administrative and other custodial personnel for the purpose of planning, prioritizing, and scheduling custodial activities and achieving site maintenance objectives.
• Inspects facilities to ensure the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, identifying necessary repairs to facilities and/or equipment.
• Maintains supplies and equipment to ensure the availability of custodial items required for properly maintained facilities.
• Performs minor, job-related maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures to ensure proper functionality and usability of items and facilities.
• Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies.
• Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns by taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Supports other site maintenance staff.
• Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
