About The Position

This role is for a Student Worker at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) within the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) and the Center for Student Engagement (CSE). The position aims to prepare students in areas such as cognitive complexity, interpersonal competence, humanitarianism and civic engagement, knowledge acquisition, intrapersonal development, and practical competence. To be eligible, candidates must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at UNR, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00, and be enrolled in at least 15 credit hours. Successful completion of 30 credit hours per academic year is required to remain on track for graduation. The position involves developing strategies to enhance voter engagement, conducting candidate meetings, facilitating elections, ensuring adherence to ASUN statutes, developing voter registration strategies, and implementing educational presentations to encourage participation in various levels of elections. A commitment to inclusion, social justice, and equity is essential, as is the ability to communicate passionately with others.

  • Meet all deadlines set forth.
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings.
  • Work scheduled hours.
  • Properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time.
  • Assist in the promotion of the mission of the Center for Student Engagement.
  • Behave in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity.
  • Refrain from engaging in situations that create a conflict of interest.

Responsibilities

  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies that enhance voter engagement
  • Conduct the mandatory candidates meeting to inform all candidates regarding the elections process and guidelines
  • Work with the Attorney General to facilitate the ASUN Primary and General Elections
  • Ensure adherence to the Statues of the Associated Students throughout the elections process
  • Work with CSE staff to develop and implement voter registration strategies
  • Develop and implement educational presentations to encourage student participation in ASUN, local, state, and national elections
  • Develop strategies to increase the participation of historically underrepresented groups in the elections and voting processes
