About The Position

The Student Work Coordinator is responsible for the selection, training, and ongoing development of the student teams supporting the campus visit program. This self-starter is an organized, creative, engaged and energetic member of the Admissions team. They are a part of the team of professionals responsible for all activities related to the active recruitment, admission, and enrollment of students to St. Olaf College. Provide vision and leadership for the admissions student employee program and the campus visit experience for prospective students and families. The St. Olaf visit experience should be unique, authentic, and of superior quality contributing to the enrollment of prospective students from around the world.

  • Strong technical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and willingness to develop CRM skills.
  • Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical. Whether a background check is deemed successfully completed will be at the sole discretion of St. Olaf College. Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an admissions office or as an admissions student worker/intern or college tour guide.
  • Office and/or customer service environment experience where contact with the public is valued and imperative; similar type work in a higher education setting.
  • The ability to problem solve, establish and exceed deadlines, and resolve conflict is strongly desired.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, select, train, and directly supervise student tour guides and Admissions Fellows. Supervision includes expectation setting, leadership development, performance evaluation, improvement plans, performance documentation, and discipline.
  • Recruit, select, train, and directly supervise Senior Admissions Fellows, including Saturday campus visit office management.
  • Develop, plan, and lead annual summer and fall training for student employees.
  • Develop, plan, and lead monthly training in service sessions for student employees through development of partnerships with faculty and staff.
  • Manage budgets for the student employment programs.
  • Regularly update training materials and tour guide manuals.
  • Actively collaborate in creating a daily student schedule to optimize student involvement.
  • Be an expert on information session content and updates on campus community developments.
  • Assess the student staffing model and make adjustments as needed to meet enrollment goals.
  • Envision, implement and execute on a best-in-class campus tour experience for prospective students and families.
  • Regularly review campus tour protocols to ensure prospective students and families are seeing key parts of campus and the St. Olaf experience in action.
  • Develop campus tour guide storytelling skills through professional development, mentorship, and regular feedback.
  • Stay abreast of campus events, changes, and improvements that are relevant to student tour guides and the campus visit experience.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis regarding the impact of campus tours on enrollment results.
  • Aggregate feedback from students and families to improve the campus tour experience.
  • Provide leadership for student engagement with the Campus Visit and College Events teams for on-campus recruitment events, including Minnesota Private College Week, Fall Visit Days, Admitted Students Days, high school counselor tour programs, and special events.
  • Be front facing in the admissions office and at campus events.
  • Provide strategic vision on how to make the St. Olaf visit experience unique, authentic, and of superior quality.
  • Assist with other areas of the visit program when needed.
  • Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
