About The Position

The Student Tutor is expected to tutor their peers' essays independently to suggest improvements. The Tutor will meet with a student independently, understand the problem and/or assignment the student has brought to the session, read the student essay and communicate clearly about possible recommendations for improvement. The Tutor will demonstrate tangible ways of implementing the recommendations and write a summary of the session to post in COMPASS for both the student and instructor. The Tutor will also attend all provided training sessions.

Requirements

• Must be an enrolled student in the University for the specific semesters they are planning to be tutors.
• Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Must have completed the First Year Writing Courses in the University or equivalent courses if they tested out.
• Could also be part of the University Honors program.

Responsibilities
