About The Position

The Technology Assistant serves as an essential member of the Open Language Resource Center team, supporting the center's daily operations and enhancing the experience of students, faculty, and other patrons. This position provides front-line customer service and technical support within a dynamic learning environment that includes instructional technology, multimedia resources, and active learning spaces. Technology Assistants contribute to the effective management of library and learning resources while helping users access and utilize a variety of educational technologies and services. Through administrative support, resource management, and technology-related assistance, this role helps ensure the Open Language Resource Center remains an accessible, organized, and innovative resource for the campus community.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours during the semester term of the appointment.
  • For summer periods, must have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or be enrolled in summer session or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
  • Can be undergraduate or graduate students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, as indicated in application materials.
  • Has been awarded Federal Work-Study funding, as indicated in application materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multimedia software (e.g. Photoshop, iMovie, Dreamweaver, Audacity), as indicated in application materials.
  • Experience with library software for accessioning items, checking items in and out, as indicated in application materials.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service to patrons of the Open Language Resource Center by answering phones, responding to emails, and addressing general inquiries.
  • Perform a variety of office and clerical tasks to support the day-to-day operations of the center.
  • Enter and maintain resource records within the online catalog, ensuring accuracy and organization of materials.
  • Process reserve requests and manage the circulation of materials by checking resources in and out through the circulation system.
  • Assist students, faculty, and other patrons with the effective use of instructional spaces, including a computer lab and active learning classrooms.
  • Provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for computers, instructional technology, and classroom equipment.
  • Support multimedia projects through the editing of digital audio and video content.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of interactive web-based content and other digital learning resources.
  • Help maintain an organized, welcoming, and technology-rich learning environment for all center users.
  • Perform additional administrative, technical, and customer service duties as assigned to support the mission and objectives of the Open Language Resource Center.
