About The Position

The Student Technician – Classroom & Program Operations Assistant provides routine operational and logistical support for HDO evening and weekend classes. This position supports the instructional environment by ensuring classrooms are properly prepared, supplied, and maintained during scheduled class sessions. The role may also assist with limited, task-based program support projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Current student at UT Austin enrolled in at least 6 hours in the fall/spring, and good standing (not on academic probation, continued probation or academic dismissal).
  • Availability for evenings and weekends (Friday evening & Saturday every other week)
  • Dependability, punctuality, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work across multiple semesters

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in learning about and supporting HDO master’s program
  • Graduate level classification

Responsibilities

  • Prepare classroom spaces prior to scheduled class sessions
  • Arrange furniture, instructional materials, and supplies according to program needs
  • Set up, monitor, and replenish snacks, beverages, and other refreshments
  • Coordinate receipt and setup of pre-ordered meals (e.g., Saturday lunches)
  • Maintain inventory of classroom and breakroom supplies; notify staff when supplies need replenishment
  • Assist with general classroom breakdown, cleanup, and reset after class sessions
  • Monitor classroom conditions during class hours and report facility or supply issues to designated HDO staff
  • Follow all university policies, safety guidelines, and departmental procedures
  • Assist with short-term, task-based projects related to program or classroom operations
  • Perform other duties consistent with the Student Technician classification
