About The Position

This is a continuous recruitment posting for a Student Teaching Supervisor within the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). The purpose of this recruitment is to build a pool of potential candidates for future opportunities. Student Teaching Supervisors support UWSP teacher candidates, including undergraduate and graduate students, throughout their student teaching semester. They are responsible for completing observation assessments required for licensure under PI-34.023. While there may not be an immediate need in every subject area, applications are accepted to fill future needs. UWSP places student teachers across Wisconsin, and supervision needs vary based on the number of candidates, their license areas, and placement locations. Supervisors are hired on a per-student basis each semester, and assignment in one semester does not guarantee assignment in the next. The School of Education aims to develop highly qualified professional educators and leaders who positively impact diverse learners and the world, with a focus on supporting Wisconsin schools and learners through collaboration, innovation, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in an education-related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed teacher in one of the listed areas or as a licensed K-12 administrator.
  • Hold a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and be able to become an approved UWSP driver.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Supply three (3) professional references, one of which must be a current or former supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience mentoring early career educators and/or pre-service teachers.
  • Strong digital communication skills (email and video conferencing).
  • Preference to supply five (5) professional references, two of which being a current or former supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Support UWSP teacher candidates (undergraduate and graduate level student teachers, interns, etc.) throughout their student teaching semester.
  • Complete observation assessments outlined under PI-34.023 and required for licensure.
  • Supervise student teachers across the entire state of Wisconsin, with needs based on candidate numbers, license areas, and placement locations.
