About The Position

TC Harris School & Academy is seeking a Student Support Specialist to join their Education Leadership team. This position plays a key role in IEP Compliance, External Stakeholder Partnerships, and student Admissions at TC Harris. The role involves providing leadership, vision, direction, supervision, and expertise in compliance with the IEP process, including attending and facilitating IEP meetings, assisting in planning and development, and working directly with staff to design and execute effective student interventions and accommodations. Collaboration with teachers, parents, LEAs, and caseworkers is essential to implement and ensure compliance with specialized education plans. The specialist will ensure all legal and procedural requirements are met, maintain accurate IEP records, analyze student data, and support teachers with data tracking and progress monitoring. Responsibilities also include coordinating student admissions, review, and dismissal/discharge processes, participating in classroom placement decisions, and conducting student academic assessments. The role involves assisting in the development and implementation of school systems for routine monitoring of IEP documentation for compliance and collaborating with staff to ensure adherence to federal, state, and T.C. Harris guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • A valid Indiana Special Education license in Mild and/or Severe Intervention required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with writing compliant Individual Education Plans that utilize state standards and content connectors.
  • Ability to lead case conferences and must have knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and Article 7.
  • Must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including parents, teachers, clinicians, and administrators.
  • Experience with DOE graduation pathways and the requirements for graduation.

  • Master's degree preferred
  • A Director of Exceptional Needs License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision, direction, supervision and expertise in compliance with the IEP process.
  • Attend and Facilitate IEP meetings.
  • Assist in planning and development of IEP.
  • Work directly with teachers, support staff, and IEP team to design and execute effective student interventions and accommodations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, LEA’s, and Student caseworkers to implement and ensure compliance with specialized education plans.
  • Ensure all legal and procedural requirements are met, including maintaining accurate IEP records.
  • Maintains database of student IEP and evaluation dates.
  • Analyze student data and progress on IEP goals.
  • Supports teachers with IEP data tracking and goal progress monitoring.
  • Coordinate the admission review and dismissal/discharge of student with regards to educational documents for each student.
  • Participates in classroom placement decisions based on educational, social, and behavioral data presented.
  • Conducts student academic assessments upon admission and when needed.
  • Assist with the development, design and implementation of school systems to ensure routine monitoring of IEP documentation for compliance.
  • Collaborate with staff in developing and providing support in the implementation of the IEP process to ensure compliance with federal, state and T.C. Harris guidelines.
