About the Imogen Foundation The Imogen Foundation provides high-quality afterschool programming rooted in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Youth Development (PYD). Our programs are dedicated to supporting the social and emotional growth of participants by offering choice-based activities that empower student voices and encourage compassion, understanding, and kindness. We serve the childcare and enrichment needs of elementary school children and families in NYC public schools, creating safe, inclusive, and engaging environments for all. Position Overview The Student Support Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring that students with additional needs receive the individualized attention and support necessary to thrive in our afterschool programs. Working closely with the Program Director, the Student Support Coordinator will provide one-on-one support, conduct targeted observations, implement interventions, and co-develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). As a consistent, positive presence on site, the Student Support Coordinator will model behaviors and SEL strategies that inspire and equip other staff to better support all students. This position is ideal for a dynamic, compassionate professional with experience working with children who is eager to make a meaningful difference in a school-based, community-focused setting. Work Environment This position is based on-site at an Imogen Foundation afterschool program location, with occasional travel for training or events. Why Join Us? Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children in educational or youth development settings.
  • Prior experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar role strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Knowledge of SEL frameworks and Positive Youth Development practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, individualized support to students with additional needs, ensuring they can fully participate in program activities.
  • Support classroom environments as needed at the discretion of the program director
  • Conduct observations and document student progress, challenges, and behavioral triggers.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to design, implement, and monitor effective BIPs.
  • Model positive communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution strategies for staff and students.
  • Facilitate interventions grounded in SEL and PYD principles, promoting resilience, empathy, and self-regulation.
  • Offer coaching and feedback to enrichment staff to help them implement inclusive, student-centered practices.
  • Uphold all Imogen Foundation values, policies, and safety procedures.
