About The Position

Provides specialized retention outreach and support services to students and serves as an Academic First Responder to at-risk students. Communicates with students digitally and in-person to provide holistic student support including academic development plans, resource referrals, and academic and career goal setting. Works directly with an academic college and participates in ongoing training and professional development to effectively support student success. The Student Success Specialist position is currently restricted for use in Academic Innovation & Student Success. Provide high-touch, holistic retention outreach and support to a cohort of undergraduate students and connect them with appropriate resources to increase their likelihood of personal and academic success. Utilize designated technology to maintain accurate records of outreach and student meetings for departmental reporting. Monitor student progress and utilize markers such as alerts, probationary statuses, account holds, and low midterm grades to identify student retention concerns and facilitate successful interventions. Participate in centralized retention initiatives such as calling campaigns, tabling at student success events, campus wide outreach events, and supporting students via live chat. Collaborate and coordinate communication with an assigned academic college or program to support the unique needs of their population. May include preparing and presenting workshops, coordinating small events, or acting as a learning community stakeholder. Participate in ongoing professional development, including identification of supplemental resources and/or student advocacy as appropriate. Populations may include first-generation, international, Hispanic, non-traditional, military-affiliated, and transfer students. Other administrative responsibilities intended to accomplish individual, academic college, and departmental goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Two years relevant experience
