About The Position

The McCrary Institute, in partnership with Auburn's Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), is seeking a Student Research Support Assistant. This role supports workforce development and cybersecurity research by facilitating technical communication and lab usage between the institute, the department, and industry partners. The assistant will also be responsible for configuring lab equipment and components for classes, research, and demonstrations.

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a student at Auburn University
  • U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Has completed, is currently enrolled in, or plans to pursue ELEC 3600 (Electric Power Engineering) at least two years prior to graduation
  • Interest in power system design/protection or smart grids.
  • Interest in computer networking or virtual machines.
  • Experience in energy sector with utilities or equipment manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Support Lab Operations (Assist ECE labs/senior design projects, and industry researchers)
  • Configure OT Equipment (SEL Relays, DNP3 protocol)
  • Power System Modeling (OpalRT Hypersim)
