About The Position

The Student Research Assistant will support ongoing clinical and translational research projects investigating respiratory function and neurological disorders, including spinal cord injury (SCI) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The position offers hands-on experience in human subjects research, laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and grant development within a multidisciplinary research environment.

Requirements

  • Support ongoing clinical and translational research projects investigating respiratory function and neurological disorders, including spinal cord injury (SCI) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
  • Hands-on experience in human subjects research, laboratory techniques, scientific writing, and grant development within a multidisciplinary research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, submission, and maintenance of regulatory documents required for clinical research studies, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • Conduct functional, respiratory, and neurophysiological assessments in accordance with study protocols and established research procedures.
  • Assist with human subjects research involving individuals with neurological conditions, including participant recruitment, scheduling, data collection, and study visits.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory and research records; organize, manage, and securely store research data in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with data processing, statistical analyses, and interpretation of research findings.
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Assist with the development of grant proposals, progress reports, and other scientific communications supporting research funding activities.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings, research training activities, and protocol-related discussions.
  • Perform other research-related duties as assigned.
