About The Position

The undergraduate research assistant will support a faculty-led research project examining how algorithmically generated student groups influence compatibility, stigma reduction, and interaction quality in first-year STEM classrooms. The study uses Social Network Analysis ( SNA ) to model relationship formation and collaboration patterns, with a specific focus on Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure (MR- QAP ) statistical modeling.

Requirements

  • Strong Python programming skills (required)
  • Experience with data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, statsmodels)
  • Comfort working with relational data structures and matrix-based statistics
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Clean, structure, and manage relational network datasets
  • Implement and validate MR- QAP analyses using Python
  • Conduct additional SNA metrics (e.g., centrality, density, modularity)
  • Assist with data visualization and interpretation of network graphs
  • Document reproducible workflows and statistical procedures
  • Contribute to research reporting and manuscript preparation as appropriate
