About The Position

Our group focuses on multidisciplinary areas of optics and photonics as well as quantum information science and technology and quantum optics. We investigate new phenomena and their physical dynamics in the scattering of classical and quantum fields from disordered and complex media. The student researcher will be involved in different aspects of the projects including numerical and computational level to hands-on experimental work.

Requirements

  • Chapman undergraduate student.
  • Interested in hands-on engineering projects (e.g., building mechanical setups).
  • Good writing and presentation skills.
  • Responsible and organized.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up experimental optical setups, operating optical experiments.
  • Work on aligning and preparing optical systems, including lasers, detectors, and associated instrumentation, while following proper safety protocols.
  • Performing measurements, collecting data, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data using analytical tools and software.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date lab documentation by maintaining the optical setup, organizing components, and keeping detailed documentation of optical procedures and experimental results.
  • Building and integrating in-house designed parts for optics experiments, specific to the project.
  • Working with other students and researchers in the group on advancing the project.
  • Maintaining weekly meetings with the advisor to discuss progress.
