About The Position

Student assistant needed for JAMP program. The student should be familiar with the Joint Admissions Medical Program and be able to present information sessions and discuss the program with interested students.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).

  • Knowledge of the program and the MCAT exam requirements.
  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.
  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with university students, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prepare and conduct an engineering experiment, present their finding, and deliver conclusions.
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Research and collect data through complex techniques and procedures.
  • Assist with data management and perform basic statistical analyses.
  • Develop assessment and evaluation tools.
  • Tutor current JAMP students in the program on the MCAT exam.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
