About The Position

Develops and coordinates undergraduate student recruitment functions for the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts (HIDA), including recruitment campaigns, events, admissions support, and community partnerships, ensuring that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with Institute priorities. The primary focus of this position is student recruitment at Fusion on First (Fashion and Popular Music) and the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center, including tours, group visits, and campus visit programming. The coordinator also provides backup coverage for Tempe campus recruitment programs, remote support for California recruitment initiatives, and targeted support for online program recruitment and outreach. This is an on-campus position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience providing customer service or student support.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills for individual and group audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events, programs, or outreach activities.
  • Experience using Salesforce, Microsoft Office applications, and related recruitment technologies.
  • Knowledge of marketing, recruitment communications, and digital content development.
  • Experience with basic budget, purchasing, or business operations processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of arts, design, or related creative disciplines in HIDA.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate recruitment, admissions, and enrollment practices in higher education.
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools.

Responsibilities

  • Provides personalized recruitment and enrollment support to prospective students and families throughout the admissions funnel by conducting individual appointments, virtual meetings, phone calls, email outreach, and other communications; responds to inquiries, maintains ongoing engagement, documents interactions, and updates student records within Salesforce and other university systems.
  • Assists prospective students through the admission and enrollment process, including program-specific requirements such as auditions, interviews, portfolio reviews, orientation, and class enrollment.
  • Coordinates and implements strategic recruitment and enrollment plans for Herberger Institute undergraduate programs across assigned academic units and locations.
  • Develops annual work plans and recruitment strategies aligned with departmental goals, enrollment priorities, and available resources.
  • Represents the Herberger Institute at local and statewide recruitment events, including college fairs, high school visits, classroom presentations, transfer outreach, and community events.
  • Plans, coordinates, and facilitates recruitment events, workshops, information sessions, campus tours, and group visits at the Downtown Phoenix campus and ASU MIX Center, including scheduling, logistics, communications, and post-event follow-up.
  • Serves as the primary recruitment representative for assigned Downtown Phoenix academic programs, including leading academic presentations, walk-and-talk tours, and supporting Admission Services campus visit programs.
  • Evaluates recruitment initiatives, events, and outreach activities; analyzes outcomes and applies findings to improve future recruitment strategies.
  • Maintains recruitment data, prepares reports, and manages databases, spreadsheets, and CRM records to support enrollment planning and decision making.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with Herberger Institute schools, Office of Student Success, ASU Admission Services, Enrollment Services, ASU Online, and other university partners to coordinate recruitment initiatives and support student success.
  • Coordinates recruitment event staffing, including faculty, staff, and student representatives; assists with training and scheduling student representatives for Downtown Phoenix campus recruitment activities.
  • Develops and coordinates recruitment communications, marketing materials, digital content, publications, websites, promotional items, and branded merchandise in collaboration with Herberger Institute marketing and communications partners, including overseeing production, ordering, distribution, and inventory management.
  • Supports daily office operations, including purchasing, reimbursements, inventory management, technology coordination, facilities requests, and maintenance of recruitment spaces and materials.
  • Provides recruitment support across Herberger Institute campuses and locations, including backup coverage for the Tempe campus and collaboration with California recruitment initiatives, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties in support of recruitment leadership and departmental operations as assigned.
