About The Position

The Student Radiologic Technologist II assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the x-ray equipment in order to obtain diagnostic images. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Successful completion of two semesters in an accredited Radiography Program.
  • Currently enrolled in the Radiography Program in 2nd Year.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures.
  • Prepares the patient for procedures.
  • Operates x-ray equipment to obtain diagnostic images.
  • Ensures patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department.
  • Explains procedures and post-procedure orders to patients to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Prioritizes workflow based on patient condition and ensures timely patient arrival and departure.
  • Provides an atmosphere conducive to patient cooperation and confidence.
  • Utilizes patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify and participate in improvement processes.
  • Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
  • Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers.
  • Facilitates and participates in regular staff meetings.
  • Follows routine standards and properly and safely manipulates equipment within its limitations to obtain images.
  • Maintains sterile equipment and fields.
  • Adjusts cameras to obtain proper density and contrast.
  • Performs necessary warm-up and quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Uses protocols to obtain images of internal structures.
  • Critiques images for quality and makes judgments on whether a repeat is necessary.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
