About The Position

This position is for a part-time (maximum 24 hours per week) student-employee at Oregon State University’s College of Liberal Arts (CLA). The Student Photographer will create engaging visual assets for CLA’s websites, social media campaigns, and print materials. Responsibilities include capturing images of people, events, and activities that represent the college, as assigned by the Marketing and Communications team. The role also involves supporting senior visual designers on larger shoots and projects.

Requirements

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (specific credit hour requirements vary by student level and status).
Experience capturing and editing high-quality digital photographs for diverse audiences and applications.
Ability to independently manage assignments, schedules, and deadlines.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, as well as follow through on commitments.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals and groups during when shooting.

Nice To Haves

Preferably earning a degree in a related field such as photography, graphic design, communication, journalism, film, media production, art, etc.
A strong portfolio of photo samples.
Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

Schedule, manage, and shoot high-quality digital images for social media, marketing materials, and feature stories.
Direct photo shoots or work under the direction of department team members.
Digitally edit photos using photo editing software to meet department needs.
Assist in managing the college’s visual assets, including cataloging, organizing, and keywording photos and videos.
Secure and manage model releases for all shoots.
