Student Persistence and Engagement Manager

YouthBuild PhillyPhiladelphia, PA
Hybrid

About The Position

YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuition-free, public charter high school focused on supporting youth aged 17-20 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. The school fosters a warm, loving culture with structures like restorative justice, community meetings, and service projects to build community. Students work towards their high school diploma and vocational certifications with unconditional staff support, aiming to disrupt poverty and achieve post-secondary success. The Student Persistence & Engagement Manager is the lead persistence strategist, ensuring students remain connected, engaged, and progressing toward graduation despite significant barriers. This role is embedded within a designated vocational pathway to provide relationship-building, mentoring, persistence support, and early intervention. The Manager leads Tier III engagement and re-engagement efforts, partnering with Student Advisors, Social Workers, and school leaders to identify, intervene with, and reconnect students facing chronic absenteeism, disengagement, or other obstacles. Through home visits, justice system navigation, and coordinated outreach, the Manager strengthens student persistence and supports successful transitions back into the school community. Additionally, the role cultivates community referral partnerships to expand access for over-aged, under-credited, and disconnected young adults and collaborates with School Operations and Enrollment to strengthen referral pathways. The goal is to ensure a clear pathway from recruitment to postsecondary success, with success measured by students reconnecting, persisting, and graduating after facing significant barriers.
