About The Position

Peer Mentors help new students navigate their transition to the University of Tulsa and become engaged members of the campus community. Each Peer Mentor leads a small group of incoming students through StartTU New Student Orientation and attends weekly FYE-1001 classes with their group throughout the fall semester. Peer Mentors also provide ongoing support by regularly checking in with their students, helping them connect with campus resources, and ensuring they are adjusting successfully to college life.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student at the University of Tulsa.
  • Must have successfully completed at least one academic year at the University of Tulsa.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
  • Must be in good standing with the university.
  • Must be able to attend all StartTU New Student Orientation dates.
  • Must be able to attend weekly FYE-1001 classes throughout the fall semester.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be reliable and responsible.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a peer mentor or in a similar leadership role.
  • Familiarity with campus resources and services.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.
