About The Position

This role guides new students through the Job Corps Program, helping them integrate to life on campus and program expectations. This role acts as a valuable mentor and resource to Job Corps students and supports their success during their first 60 days on campus and beyond. The Job Corps is the largest federal residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 60 years. We help eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, train them for meaningful careers, and assist them with obtaining employment and independence. By offering hands-on training in fields like manufacturing, health care, technology, and construction, we prepare students for lifelong careers in the industries that power America. Since 1964, Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals. Our Shriver campus is located right off of Route 2 in Devens, MA and services between 200 and 300 students at any given time with rolling admissions weekly. Our 21-acre campus houses a gym, basketball courts, dormitories, full-service cafeteria, wellness clinic, classrooms, trade workshops, offices, and more. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid in-state Driver’s License and meet the Company insurability requirements.
  • While many states, including Massachusetts, have legalized marijuana for medical and recreational use, it remains classified as an illegal controlled substance under federal law, specifically the Controlled Substances Act. We are a federal contractor and subject to DOL regulations which requires us to maintain a drug-free workplace and prohibit the use of federally illegal substances.
  • This role is subject to pre- and post-employment drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree from an accredited school preferred.
  • Previous group facilitation, teaching or Job Corps experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing instruction and training to students during the Job Corps orientation program.
  • Develops individual achievement plans, evaluates progress to ensure student early retention and success in the program.
  • Provides supervision, instruction and training to Job Corps students in assigned classrooms.
  • Provides remedial support and guidance for students to successfully complete the orientation period requirements.
  • Conducts effective classroom instruction and evaluates student performance.
  • Evaluates and assesses students’ readiness to transition to the full Job Corps training program schedule.
  • Provides students with comprehensive and individualized case management ensuring student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program.
  • Establishes supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment and provides personal and career counseling.
  • Routinely evaluates and documents student performance using the case management system.
  • Coordinates pre-arrival activities to ensure effective transition to Center life including pre-arrival phone calls, transportation to Center, CPP welcome celebration, folder review, needs assessment, introduction to Center staff and tour of the Center.
  • Ensures that area is organized, clean, safe and conducive to student/staff success
  • Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and work productivity standards.
  • Plans, prioritizes and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
  • Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population.
  • Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior.
  • Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.
  • Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
  • Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
