About The Position

Beloit Health System is hiring Student Nurses for multiple departments, including the Cardiac Stepdown and Med/Surg Units at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, Wisconsin. The Student Nurse performs basic nursing care and skills learned and practiced in an accredited school of nursing, and assists with patient personal care or unit cleaning procedures that complement nursing practices. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Shifts are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.; schedules may vary based on availability. Weekly hours vary. This is a per-diem position, and benefits are not available.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and participating in an NN-accredited school of nursing and in the senior year of a conventional nursing degree program; for a direct degree program (for example, BS to BSN or BS to MSN), must be in the final year and no more than six months from graduation.
• Must pass the NCLEX or receive a temporary nursing license within six months of graduating.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be CPR certified or eligible for certification within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients’ and families’ basic physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Assist professional staff in delivering patient care.
• Perform basic nursing procedures in accordance with Beloit Health System policies and procedures.
• Communicate observations to the designated nursing leader.
• Document patient care in accordance with policy, as demonstrated by periodic reviews.
• Reinforce patient teaching and involve family members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist with patient personal care or unit cleaning procedures to complement nursing practices.
